JEFFERSON COUNTY - BESSEMER ALABAMA:   It is with great shame and disgrace that I feel these articles must be written.


But the murders and lives lost in Jefferson County each day concern me. They concern me because innocent people lose their lives with being murdered.


Jefferson County is the county that Birmingham sits in. Jefferson County is the county in which UAB Hospital and Children's Hospital sits in. 


This week was just three years ago that our grandson Brantley was flown emergency to Children's Hospital. At the direction of Dr. Fred Pich, Emergency Medical Director at Southeast Health, Survival Flight - Mark Reynolds and crew flew Brantley to Children's Hospital for emergency surgery.


Our family was between Children's Hospital and the hotel, walking the streets. And should be walking the streets without fear of being gunned down.


Rickey Stokes does not play bingo or gamble. If I think about it when in Florida I might buy a quick pick lottery ticket. But that has been years. So my pitch to let the people vote is not for something I want to do.


BUT WE HAVE A COWARD FOR ALABAMA ATTORNEY GENERAL, STEVE MARSHALL AND ALABAMA GOVERNOR KAY IVEY. 


Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall placed pressure on the Jefferson County Sheriff to close the bingo places. The Sheriff took a stand the murders, gangs and drugs was his priority.


So Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall in 2019 assembled a task force from the Alabama Attorney General's Office and ALEA ( Alabama Law Enforcement Agency ) and traveled to Jefferson County and raided the bingo facilities.


But Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall and Alabama Kay Ivey has done absolutely nothing to take Jefferson County back from the criminal element that has taken it over.


JEFFERSON COUNTY ALABAMA can be saved. But ut takes someone concerned with all of the people being murdered and believing that lives are more important than bingo.


Attorney General Steve Marshall and Governor Kay Ivey - you have a lot of resources at your disposal. Call and save Birmingham.


Because right now you are spineless, coward, wimps who are allowing people to get murdered.


Morning shooting at Bessemer store leaves man dead, teen girl wounded in city’s 2nd homicide this weekend


A Sunday morning shooting at a Bessemer convenience store left one man dead and a teen girl seriously injured.


The shooting happened at 6:05 a.m. at Stop and Go on Dartmouth Avenue.


It was one of two fatal shootings in Bessemer this weekend. Another homicide happened on Saturday.


Sunday’s shooting, said Lt. Christian Clemons, stemmed from an argument inside a car. The male victim was inside the car when he was shot and was pronounced dead on the scene.
