ALARMING DOCUMENT Sent With Questions Concerning Southeast Health

DOTHAN - HOUSTON COUNTY:    The following was sent to me the second quarter of 2021. It was sent to me again over the weekend.

At a recent Houston County Commission Meeting there was some controversy over appointments to the Southeast Alabama Healthcare Authority by the Houston County Commission.

Houston County D-3 Commissioner Ricky Herring made accusations in the media the Southeast Alabama Healthcare Authority was "strong arming" him into making an appointment from a list they submit to the commissioners.

The Houston County Commissioners make 12 of the 13 appointments to the Southeast Alabama Healthcare Authority which is the governing body of Southeast Health.

While the Houston County Commissioners have the responsibility of making the appointments to the healthcare authority, they have no authority to attend any of the meetings and not allowed minutes or data from the healthcare authority. They meet in secret.

Southeast Health is the largest employer in Houston County. A Board member serves six years. The Chairman of the Houston County Commission does not get to make appointments to the Healthcare Authority. Only the four sitting members of the Houston County Commission, which gets three appointments each.

Several years ago the Healthcare Authority hired Rick Sutton as Chief Executive Officer. Sutton rode into Dothan and started re-alignment of what was then called Southeast Alabama Medical Center. A lot of long time employees lost their jobs.

During the time Rick Sutton has been in charge of what was Southeast Alabama Medical Center which is now Southeast Health, very few have gotten to know him. He is not a very personable person and has zero community involvement. When not at Southeast Health Sutton is normally at his beach house, Colorado or his Alaska home. The CEO does not really associate with anyone and most public servants who are elected do not know him.

The document below was sent to me. There is no way in the world that I can attest to the accuracy of the information in the document. Some of the items I know are true and some I know are questionable if accurate.

The only way that I could find out is to file a lawsuit which would then allow depositions and subpoenas. Other wise I can not find out if accurate to all of the information.

But the recent hesitations from the Houston County Commission, some things I do know which are accurate, the second time I have received this information, is why I am posting it.

Since the Houston County Commission makes 12 of the 13 appointments to the Healthcare Authority, I would think these items would concern them. And it should be their duty and responsibility to investigate these accusations and report back their findings.

BUT THE HOUSTON COUNTY COMMISSION HAS DUTY TO INVESTIGATE
