WASHINGTON D.C.:    Tonight I was scrolling INSTAGRAM which is not something I do on a regular basis.

I learned that ALEA - Troopers, Alabama's very own ALABAMA LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCY - State Troopers, were in Washington D.C. today as part of the protection detail for the swearing in of the President and Vice President of the United States of America.

CONGRATULATIONS to ALEA - Troopers for the respect and trust your agency has earned under the leadership of Secretary Hal Taylor and Colonel Charles Ward.

You represented our state well.

AS I SCROLLED INSTAGRAM and looked at the pictures of some other agencies, such as Miamidadepd and members of their Rapid Deployment Force on hand in Washington D.C.

About 200 law enforcement officers from New York Police Department on hand for those taking the oath of office to be servants. Not "officials", but "servants" of the people to make these, the Great United States of America better today then yesterday.

On hand for the safety and security of those taking the oath of office to be public servants to the citizens of the United States of America.

These law enforcement officers were there to protect some of the very people taking the oath of office who want to defund the law enforcement, be critical of the law enforcement, take away some of their power in order to maintain peace and security. Yet, some of these same people want and demand these officers be present to protect them, yet deny these law enforcement officers the protection they deserve.

As I scrolled, I found...

MIAMIDADEPD FALLEN HERO,  Detectives Amanda Haworth and Roger Castillo, killed in the line of duty on January 20, 2021. The officers were shot and killed while serving a felony arrest warrant for murder. When the officers made contact with someone at the door someone inside immediately opened fire, striking Detective Castillo who died on the scene. Detective Haworth was transported to a local hospital where she passed away during surgery.

SACRAMENTO CALIFORNIA  as Deputy Sheriff Gibson and K9 Riley were shot and killed in the line of duty following a chase.

So to all public servants, remember as those officers protected you today and placed your life ahead of theirs, today, three officers lost their lives while serving these, the United States of America. From California to Miami... gave the ultimate sacrifice.

Again, thank you ALEA for representing Alabama today.
