Yesterday, several ALEA Troopers joined friends, family and other local law enforcement officers to celebrate one very special birthday in Calhoun County.
On April 17, 2021, local law enforcement responded to a shooting in Weaver, Alabama. Upon arrival, they located Kaylyn Jones, 24, deceased at the scene along with her 4-year-old son, Mason, who was suffering from a gunshot wound. Mason was rushed to Children’s Hospital where he underwent multiple surgeries and continues physical therapy to this day. Since his recovery, Mason has voiced his love and appreciation for first responders and one of his birthday wishes was to have first responders attend his birthday celebration. ALEA Trooper Carter Allen was contacted by Mason’s legal guardian and immediately, Trooper Allen began coordinating with several other Troopers who were off that day and could donate their time to make a positive impact on Mason for his birthday.
During the party, Mason was presented with memorabilia from ALEA and the Alabama State Troopers Association (ASTA). Thank you, Mason, and family for allowing us to be a part of this special event!
