The ADRA recently was awarded a grant from the United States Department of Agriculture in the amount of $59,600 to hire KPS Group out of Birmingham as a consulting firm to create a master plan for the Ashford area. Chris Beeker, USDA state director of the rural development program, presented the award to the ADRA on Tuesday August 20th at the Historic Depot. Members of the City of Ashford Council, Ashford Mayor and business owners were present for the award ceremony. Other’s present for this ceremony were State Sen. Donnie Chesteen, House Representative Paul Lee and Matt Parker, President of the Dothan Area Chamber of Commerce. This award is a great beginning to revitalize the downtown area. Community meeting will be held by the consulting firm for input and those dates and times will be released at a later time.
