DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — The Houston County School Board handed down a punishment to the teachers involved in the teacher text group chat that leaked last month.
In this group chat, teachers spoke negative about teenage students’ sex lives, their intelligence, and in one case, used a racial slur to describe a former student. Another student, a transgender boy, was also mentioned in a way that was described as being disrespectful.
For their part, the teachers will now receive a 10-day suspension without pay. Several parents and community members at the meeting voiced their disappointment at what happened.
