Attempted Traffic Stop Turns to Pursuit , Drug Charges

JACKSON COUNTY:On Sept. 29, at approximately 1:30 p.m. Jackson County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Investigators were patrolling the Graceville area when they saw a man, later identified as Tanner Allen Cauley, not wearing a seatbelt while driving. When they attempted to make a traffic stop, Cauley fled, reaching speeds of up to 100 miles per hour.
The pursuit ended when a deputy successfully deployed stop sticks, deflating two of Cauley’s tires. The vehicle caught fire, and Cauley fled about 50 yards on foot, and was then arrested.
Investigators located more than 13 grams of the prescription medication Alprazolam, a loaded 9 mm handgun and 9.93 grams of methamphetamine in Cauley’s backpack. Then, Investigators located Cauley’s driver’s license, which has been revoked since 2018, 3 grams of cocaine and 6.57 grams of methamphetamine on Cauley’s person.
Cauley is being charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance, Trafficking in Methamphetamine, Possession of Cocaine, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Possession of Ammunition by a Convicted Felon, Driving with License Suspended or Revoked with Knowledge and Attempting to Elude with Lights and Sirens Active.
