(DOTHAN) On Tuesday, September 17, at 3 p.m., the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), Emassee-Roberts Grierson Chapter, will host a bell-ringing ceremony at the Headland Presbyterian Church at Landmark Park to celebrate the 232nd anniversary of the signing of the Constitution of the United States of America. DAR members will be costumed in Revolutionary War era attire, and will speak at the ceremony.

Free admission to Landmark Park will be granted beginning at 2 p.m. on September 17 for the event. The general public is invited to attend.

Bells will be ringing from coast to coast to celebrate Constitution Week, which is recognized from September 17-23. The DAR initiated the observance of Constitution Week in 1955, with the goals on encouraging the study of historical events that led the the framing of the Constitution in September 1787, to inform people that the Constitution is the basis of America's great heritage and the foundation of our way of life, and to emphasize U.S. citizens' responsibility to protect, defend and preserve the Constitution. By fostering knowledge of and appreication for the Constitution and the inalienable rights it affords to all Americans, DAR helps to keep alive the memory of the men and women who secured our nation's independence, whose bravery and sacrifice made possible the liberties we enjoy today.

Landmark Park is a 135-acre natural science and history museum located on the outskirts of Dothan. Regular park hours are Monday-Saturday from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. and on Sundays from noon to 5 p.m. Admission is $4 for adults, $3 for kids and free for park members and children 2 and under.
