During the early morning hours of Sunday August 18, 2019, Officers of the Marianna Police Department responded to an address on Lafayette Street, to the report of a subject attempting to make entry into a closed business. Upon arrival, officers were able to make contact with a subject emerging from the rear of the business. This subject was detained and later identified as Eddie Jerome Walton of Marianna Florida. During a search of Walton’s person, a pipe like device, used to ingest illegal narcotics, was discovered.
During the investigation into Walton’s activities, prior to officer arrival, several items associated with an adjacent business were discovered. These items were concealed behind the building which Walton had initially been reported behind, and had been observed walking away from. Further investigation revealed these items had been taken from vehicles within the parking lot area of the neighboring business by Walton, and were arranged for transport from the area. The items recovered were returned to their rightful owner, after being identified by the victim.
Walton was taken into custody, was transported to the Jackson County Correctional Facility to await first appearance. This case remains under investigation due to possible additional crimes related to the victimized business.
