BIRMINGHAM: The felony case against a man charged with making threats against Birmingham Mayor Randall Woodfin will be presented to a grand jury for indictment consideration.
Brian Stephen Vest, 50, was set to have a preliminary hearing Monday but waived his right to do so, court records show. Jefferson County District Judge William Bell sent the case on to a grand jury for indictment consideration.
Vest’s bond was reduced from $100,000 to $30,000. He has remained in jail since his June 3 arrest on the charge of making a terrorist threat. His arrest took place during the week of unrest in Birmingham following the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis.
