Case Of Hartford Volunteer Fireman Arrested By Geneva County Sheriff Investigator In Dale County

DALE COUNTY - GENEVA COUNTY:    On March 25 the case State of Alabama verses Charles Scott Parrish was scheduled for trial in Dale County District Court. The case had been continued until March 23.

The case involves the arrest of Hartford Volunteer Fireman Parrish by Geneva County Sheriff Investigator Pete Markow at a motor vehicle accident scene in Dale County.

The undisputed facts are: Investigator Markow was traveling from Geneva County to Daleville for a breakfast with other investigators in the area. A motor vehicle accident occured in front of Investigator Markow on Highway 167. The accident scene was in Dale County.

UNDISPUTED FACTS:   Pete Markow is an investigator with Geneva County Sheriff Department. The accident scene was in Dale County. Investigator Markow had a duty to stop and render aid. Hartford Fire - Rescue was dispatched. The defendant is a volunteer member of Hartford Fire. Markow arrested the defdant, Charles Scott Parrish. One offense reflects Disorderly Conduct, one shows Obstructing Governmental Operations and Resisting Arrest.

DISPUTED FACTS:   Multiple sides to how everything took place. Investigator Markow states that Bellwood Volunteer Fire wanted Parrish off the scene and Volunteer Fireman Parrish disputes this.

WITNESSES:   According to court records in Dale County Clerk of Court the following witnesses have been subpeoned to appear: 

Pete Markow - Geneva County Sheriff Department; Deputy Cole, Johnson and Kather of Geneva County Sheriff Department; Officers Cook and Cobb of Hartford Police Department; Wilkerson and McComb of Bellwood Volunteer Fire Department; ALEA Trooper Pert and Trooper Jackson; ALEA - State Bureau of Investigation Agent David McGowan; Dale County Sheriff Deputy Gagnon.

THE LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS AND FIREMAN ON SCENE WITH UNDISPUTED JURISDICTION AND DUTY TO ACT AT THAT LOCATION:   ALEA - Trooper Pert, ALEA - Trooper Jackson; ALEA - State Bureau of Investigation Agent David McGown; Dale County Sheriff Deputy Gagnon; Hartford Fire - Rescue; Bellwood Volunteer Fire.

The arrest was on November 4, 2022. Parrish was arrested in Dale County by Geneva County Sheriff Investigator Pete Markow. Parrish was placed in the Dale County Sheriff Deputy vehicle and transported to Dale County Jail in Ozark.

It is the duty of ALEA - Troopers to investigate motor vehicle accidents and Deputy Sheriff's are there to assist ALEA - Troopers and are not primary investigators of the accident.

Law Enforcement Officers have arrest authority anywhere in the state. The offenses alleged to have been committed by Parrish are misdemeanors.

Recently I saw Geneva County Sheriff Investigator Pete Markow in the Geneva County Courthouse where he would not speak and turned his nose up to me. So he is mad at me because I have highlighted this case. 

Personally I like Markow. But if he wants to be mad at me then he obviously has me confused with someone who really cares. The facts are as they are.

We intend to ask the court, since District Court is a court of no record, can we LIVESTREAM this trial. There are so many mixed verisons, we would like to broadcast the under oath testimony.
