On Monday, June 14, 2021, an off-duty Deputy with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office Reserve unit observed a silver Toyota car pull into a business the Deputy knew to be closed.  Upon approaching the business’s driveway, the Deputy observed the vehicle departing from a locked gate, where a vehicle was parked.  The Deputy, being aware of a recent string of catalytic converter thefts, checked underneath the vehicle and observed the catalytic converter had been cut.  The Deputy immediately relayed this information to JCSO Dispatchers, providing the vehicle description and direction of travel.  A Florida Highway Patrol unit was in the area and conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle in the area of NW Bodiford Rd and NW Oglesby Rd in Calhoun County.  The occupants were identified as Tiffany Estes, Justin Odom, and Henry “Allen” Shiver.  Members of the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Unit arrived on the scene to assist.

During the course of the investigation, it was determined that Shiver and Odom had entered the closed business, passing two locked gates, with the intention of stealing catalytic converters.  Tools to accomplish this crime were located within the vehicle they were traveling in along with two catalytic converters.  Shiver and Odom were placed under arrest in Calhoun County and warrants have been issued in Jackson County.  Shivers and Odom will be extradited to Jackson County to answer to the charges listed below.  Estes was arrested by the Florida Highway Patrol on unrelated charges.

Sheriff Edenfield would like to extend his sincere gratitude to the Florida Highway Patrol, Sheriff Glenn Kimbrel and the members of Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance in locating and arresting these subjects.  Sheriff Edenfield and his staff are committed to deterring criminals who would seek to deprive members of our community of their property, and profit from their criminal acts.  Additional suspects in the recent catalytic converter thefts are being identified and investigated and additional arrests and charges are forthcoming.
