CHIPLEY WOMAN ARRESTED ON WARRANT AND DRUG CHARGES

Washington County, FL; March 5, 2021)- A Chipley woman was arrested on warrant and drug charges following a traffic stop.

At approximately 1:50 p.m., March 4, deputies witnessed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed on Rolling Pines Road. As deputies conducted a traffic stop, the driver, identified as 49-year-old, India Lee Tavares, was placed under arrest for active Bay County warrants.

A search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of a clear baggy and a piece of paper with a red straw and blue hollow tube containing a crystal substance that later field tested positive for methamphetamine.

Tavares, who was wanted on felony drug charges out of Bay County, is now facing additional Washington County charges for possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Tavares was arrested and booked into the Washington County Jail.
