COFFEE COUNTY: The Enterprise Police Department arrested Chad Jones, 45, of Gadsden on the charge of Public Intoxication. Following his arrest, while in custody of the Coffee County Jail, Jones experienced a medical emergency. Enterprise Rescue and the New Brockton Fire Department responded to the jail but were unable to revive Jones.

No foul play is suspected; however, Coffee County Sheriff Scott Byrd has requested the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency conduct an investigation into the incident. The sheriff, district attorney, and county coroner have requested an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death. The investigation is ongoing and no further information is available at this time.
