COLUMBIA:    08:08 PM     CONGRATULATION  to Columbia Mayor Rhonda Freeman and members of the Columbia Town Council.

A decision was made tonight to move forward with taking bids on a new Columbia Fire and EMS Station.

The station was destroyed by Hurricane Michael. The team has been operating out of a travel trailer and old police department building.

This council took office in November. The issue has been kicked around. Former Columbia Councilman Jesse Ingram made a presentation to the council. Columbia EMS Chief Daniel Forrester made a presentation. Columbia Fire Chief Josh Martin worked to obtain data and figures.

Columbia City Attorney Ben Freeman cautioned the council, that while figures have been presented as estimates, this has to go out for bids.

THANK YOU Mayor and Council. You did a good job and I am proud of you. In fact I would have even taken the butt whooping your CPA wanted to give me from the last meeting. Why?

Because after years of talking you are finally making steps. So Mr. CPA, guess you can now whip my butt!

The Town Council voted for speed bumps on River Road. Several other issues were discussed.

While I do not live in Columbia, I am honored to have brought you some positive and good news from Columbia Alabama.
