PERRY COUNTY, Ala. (WSFA) - A west Alabama woman who was convicted in 2014 for attempting to murder an Alabama State Trooper has been denied a petition for judicial review of her case, according to Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshal’s office.
Perry County Circuit Court Judge Robert Montgomery denied the Rule 32 petition filed by Janice Green, 51, a Marion resident also known as Janice Ford or Janice Billingsley.
Green, who is serving a 30 year sentence, has seen several appeal attempts to have her conviction thrown out end in failure.
The AG’s office showed evidence at trial that Green fired a high-powered, scoped bolt-action rifle at a member of an Alabama State Trooper Tactical Team who had come to serve a search warrant at her home.
