FT. RUCKER:    This afternoon area officials came together to the Dothan Opera House for a press conference of encouragement for AUSA Community Partner.


AUSA is the Association of the United States Army. AUSA supports all of Ft. Rucker and efforts to show to Ft. Rucker with officials in the Army both locally and in Washington.


Present for this press conference, officials from Dothan, Houston County, Ozark, Dale County, Enterprise, Coffee County and Daleville. Municipal and County officials along with Chamber of Commerce Offices in each city and county.


The goal is to have 250 corporate sponsorships by October when the locals attend the National AUSA Conference in Washington.


This effort is to get the vertical training platform for Ft. Rucker. The helicopter training is at Ft. Rucker and officials want the vertical lift training added to Ft. Rucker.


The Civilian Aide to the Secretary of the Army, Mike Schmitz spoke. He is the Vice President for Corporate Sponsorships.


The local Ft. Rucker chapter has grown tremendously. Since the last effort we went from 750 to over 5,478 individual members.


Schmitz wants the wiregrass to be the number one in the world. The amount for corporate sponsorships is $ 175.00 a year.


With this sponsorship it shows as a way that we can show the Army, Pentagon and Department of defense, "we got this". We got our soildiers, we got Ft. Rucker and we will be number one in the world.


What we have right now is 124 Community Partners, businesses, paying $ 175.00 a year. To be number one we need 250 Corporate Partners.


Mike Schmitz says we can do this. And  it is huge to show Washington we are number one in the nation. And this will make a difference.


The application will be scanned and added so you can download, sign, add your $ 175.00 fee and become a corporate partner.


FOLKS ... that is ONLY 126 Corporate Sponsors. We can far exceed that goal.
