COTTONWOOD: Cottonwood Rescue serves southeast Houston County. The territory covered by Cottonwood Rescue runs from the east side of Highway 231 South to Lucy and Highway 95, South of Gordon.
Part of Highway 95 south is also covered by Ashford Rescue.
The square mile service area for Cottonwood Rescue is 130 square miles.
The call volume for all EMS which covers outside the City of Dothan, have responded to the following number of calls:
YEAR 2016 - 4122: YEAR 2017 - 4365: YEAR 2018 - 4695
YEAR 2019 - 4683
Cottonwood Rescue is proud to announce the approval for Advanced Life Support capabilities. In the near future the ambulances will make the move to the Advanced Level.
Code of Alabama defines Advanced Life Support as:
ADVANCED LIFE SUPPORT (ALS). The treatment of potentially life-threatening medical emergencies through the use of invasive medical techniques specified as advanced life support techniques by the Board of Health, which ordinarily would be performed or provided by licensed physicians, but which may be performed by emergency medical service personnel during emergencies under constraints specified by rule of the board.
This accomplishment is the result of a lot of hard work from the past and present members of Cottonwood Rescue. The members, from Charter Members to present members and all in between have worked together as a team. The volunteer fire departments also work together as a team to serve as the backbone helping with EMS functions, not just in Cottonwood but throughout Houston County.
While countywide totals are 4,695 in year 2019, Cottonwood Rescue 911 calls were:
YEAR 2016: 528 YEAR 2017: 455 YEAR 2018: 686
YEAR 2019: 794
Cottonwood Rescue has volunteer and paid members. They offer emergency 911 ambulance, non-emergency patient transports to and from hospitals, nursing homes, doctor's appointments and other physician ordered transports.
Cottonwood Rescue also operates a wheelchair van for those needing wheelchair transports.
Cottonwood Rescue is also in development plans for ATV and Jeep search teams.
A non profit, 501 ( c ) ( 3 ) entity here to serve patients needs. Not just in Cottonwood on non emergency and wheelchair transports.
To make the move to Advanced Life Support will cost around $ 4,000.00. Tax deductible donations are welcome, encouraged, and very much needed.
