Decision nears for Ivey; mask order expires Friday

MONTGOMERY: Gov. Kay Ivey’s statewide mask order expires Friday, and the governor has not announced whether she would extend the order, which faces a federal court challenge from seven people represented by former state Supreme Court Chief Justice Roy Moore.


Press Secretary Gina Maiola said today Ivey and State Health Officer Dr. Scott Harris are weighing the options and would decide before Friday whether to extend the Safer at Home order, which includes many other restrictions besides the mask order, such as occupancy limits for stores and seating limitations for restaurants.
