HOUSTON COUNTY:    Houston County Commissioner Doug Sinquefield who represents District 2 is a working commissioner.

Today Commissioner Sinquefield personally responded to a structure fire on Melton Road south of Gordon. He went to assist and not to get in the way.

Commissioner Doug Sinquefield responded on Highway 84 East to where a semi overturned and dumped their wood on the roadway. The volunteers along with Dothan-Houston County Emergency Management Director Chris Judah had started stacking the wood that was in the roadway on the side of the road. It was getting dark and would be dangerous. Commissioner Sinquefield jumped right in there with everyone.

One night Commissioner Sinquefield was notified a person took their life in front of a Ashford Police Officer and a Houston County Deputy. Commissioner Sinquefield responded in order to meet the needs of the officers and let them know they were supported.

Commissioner Sinquefield was notified of a house that was a total loss a couple of years ago. That house was not in his district. The day after it had burned and he learned of it, Commissioner Sinquefield went to the house and visited with the residents who had loss all of their belongings.

A house trailer fire where two men saved the life of a man. Commissioner Sinquefield when notified went to the fire. He wanted to see if anything was needed. He wanted to check on the man pulled from the house. And he wanted to shake the hands of the two men who pulled the man from the burning trailer. He then recognized them publically at the Houston County Commission Meeting.

Commissioner Doug Sinquefield is the representative of the Commission for the National Peanut Festival. You will see Doug with his sleeves rolled up working all 10 days of the festival.

Commissioner Doug Sinquefield is a part of the team of the Alabama Association of County Commissioners in Montgomery. He is on top of the legislative platform and ideas of the State Wide Commissioners.

One night a inmate struck a Corrections Officer in the head with the food plate at the Houston County Jail. The corrections officer was transported to the hospital. As soon as Commissioner Sinquefield found out, off to the hospital he went to check on the Corrections Officer.

None of what he does is for notice. He does it because he has a servants heart. And his desire is to serve the people of Houston County.

He is involved in farm programs in teaching young people about farming. Involved in more than I know.

A Houston County Commissioner makes $ 33,500.00 per year. In addition they make a car allowance of $ 2,400.00 a year. In 10 years they are vested in the State of Alabama Retirement System.

Thanks to District 2 Houston County Commissioner Doug Sinquefield for your work and devotion to this county.
