DOMESTIC ALTERCATION LEADS TO SHOOTING

On June 5, 2021, at approximately 10:38 AM, the Bonifay Police Department responded to Judy Lucas Apartment Complex on Sandpath Road in reference to a shooting. Upon arrival, a male subject was found inside an apartment suffering from two apparent gunshot wounds, one to the abdomen and one to the torso.
Holmes County EMS arrived and began administering medical treatment to the subject. Another individual was located inside the apartment and was identified as the lessee of the apartment. This individual admitted to having shot the subject after he had been assaulted inside his residence by the subject.
Further investigation led to the determination that the altercation was between a father and his adult son. The altercation ensued after the son used physical force and a weapon in an attempt to take both the car keys and prescription medication from the father’s residence.
The son, identified as Daniel Earl Harrell, age 29, of Bonifay was life flighted to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries. Charges are pending review of the case by the14th Judicial State Attorney’s Office.
