Dothan Police Scams

DOTHAN ALA:We have received several reports that some one pretending to be a member of the Dothan Police Department is calling citizens.  These scammers are telling people they have a warrant and to remit payment.  The Police Department will NEVER ask you to do this.  Court fees and fines are handled through the Dothan Magistrate.


Tips on Scams:

A Police Department or other governmental agency (IRS, etc.) will not ask you to pay to take care of a warrant by calling you on the phone.  We will not tell you to get a Green Dot card to pay for a warrant.  If you win a contest you did not enter, it is probably a scam.  If you suspect a scam, call the police department before you pay anything.  Stay vigilant.
