DOTHAN: DOTHAN UTILITIES ANNOUNCES FIRST ROUND OF ELECTRIC METER INSTALLATIONS
Dothan Utilities Electric Operations Superintendent, Chris Phillips, announced today the first round of installation of the new electric meters will begin Monday, July 8.
According to Phillips, the deployment of the Advanced Metering Infrastructure system (AMI) will take 18 – 24 months to replace nearly 66,000 electric and water meters throughout the Dothan Utilities customer base.
DU will begin installing electric meters in residential neighborhoods, beginning inside Ross Clark Circle south of Montgomery Highway and North West Carroll to East of Ross Clark Circle and West of North and South Oates Street. (See accompanying map—areas mentioned are in gray).
DU Electric Department personnel will knock on customer doors to let them know they may experience a short, two minute electric service interruption. The exchange should take fewer than 10-20 minutes per household.
DU personnel will work on the AMI conversion Monday through Saturday during daylight hours only.
If DU customers have questions or concerns, please call 334.615.3302 and select the option “Speak with a Representative”. Customer Service is available from 6 am to 4:30 pm Monday through Friday.
