Early Morning Structure Fire in Samson

SAMSON, AL: At approximately 1:30 A.M. Geneva County E-911 dispatched Samson Police, Fire, and Rescue to a structure fire at 109 N Ripley Street in Samson. Initial reports to dispatch were the residence was fully involved. Samson Police Officers Nick Stanley, Cole Dean and Geneva County Sheriff’s Deputy Andrew Williams were the first to arrive on the scene and assisted in evacuating the residents that were still inside the neighboring apartment building that had also become engulfed in flames. Samson Fire immediately requested mutual aid from Geneva Fire Department to assist. Flat Creek Volunteer Fire Department was also dispatched as automatic aid for Samson Fire. One person was transported from the scene by Samson Rescue Squad.
Samson Fire quickly made an aggressive attack on the fire in the apartments to attempt to save as much of the apartments as they could. Firefighters on the scene worked for several hours to extinguish the fire. Officers on scene were able to save one vehicle from catching fire by pulling it out of the way, however one was not able to be saved. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
