DOTHAN - HOUSTON COUNTY:    No ... the Emergency Management Director is not a weather man.

No - the Emergency Management Director can not look into a looking glass and predict the future.

What a good Emergency Management Director does is develop relationships with professionals who do know the weather and are able to predict what might happen.

Since the hiring Houston County Commission ( Deputy Sheriff/County Commissioner Ricky Herring was not "the hiring" County Commission ) brought Chris Judah on board as Dothan - Houston County Emergency Management Director, part of his marching orders was to build relationships with professionals in many areas.

EMA Director Chris Judah traveled to Tallahassee and met with National Weather Service professionals. EMA Director Chris Judah has established relationships with local weather professionals to assist in those predictions. Director Judah has a hand in hand working relationship with them.

Today EMA Director has spent the day between two cell phones, the office phone, emails and text messages, and meeting with various people in the prediction of Hurricane Sally. EMA Director Judah has been working with other area EMA Director's in Geneva County, Coffee County, Dale County and Henry County. He has been in contact with Alabama Emergency Management officials.

The expected affects on Houston County as rain. A lot of heavy rainfall. There will be flooding in many areas.

Director Judah motto is to respond and not react. Have a plan in place and be able to execute the plan. During the emergency you have to adapt the plan, but you have a plan.

Dedicated to his job in the service of others. Emergency Management is not just a weather related event person. Judah wears many hats and is proactive in establishing relationships to provide services.

#houstoncountystrong is the motto Chris Judah brought when he accepted the role as Dothan - Houston County Emergency Management Director. He has followed the mandate issued by the "hiring" Houston County Commissioner. ( AGAIN, Deputy Sheriff/Houston County Commissioner Ricky Herring was not on the hiring commission.)
