The City of Dothan Proclaims EMS Week: Personnel from all different facets of Emergency Medical Services will be honored throughout this week. “This is an awesome time for us to recognize the components of the Emergency Medical Services,” Dothan Fire Chief Larry Williams said. “When you think of EMS, you think of the word ‘team’ because various agencies work nonstop in order to provide the best services possible from the pre-hospital setting all the way to the hospital.” During a regular Tuesday meeting, the City of Dothan commission declared May 21-27, 2023, as Emergency Medical Services Week to recognize the accomplishments of EMS workers who stay ready to give around the clock lifesaving care. Throughout the week, members throughout the community will be recognized and thanked for the job they do, Dothan Mayor Mark Saliba said. “I think everyone here understands the value and importance of what they do for our city,” Saliba said.


 


 



The City of Enterprise Proclaims EMS Week: Mayor William E. Cooper last Thursday proclaimed May 21-27, 2023, as Emergency Medical Services week in the City of Enterprise. 


 


“Members of emergency medical services are ready to provide lifesaving care to those in need 24 hours a day, seven days a week,” Mayor Cooper said surrounded by representatives from Enterprise Fire Department and Enterprise Rescue Inc..


 


“Emergency medical technicians and paramedics engage in thousands of hours of specialized training and continuing education to enhance their lifesaving skills.  Access to quality emergency care dramatically improves the survival and recovery rate of those who experience sudden illness or injury. It is appropriate to recognize the value and the accomplishments of emergency medical services providers by designating Emergency Medical Services Week.”


 


Mayor Cooper encouraged the community to observe this week with appropriate programs, ceremonies, and activities.


 


 



Tuesday is “EMS Safety Day,” a time to focus on risk and injury prevention. Options for program topics include improved situational awareness, driving and roadway safety, vehicle and device maintenance, proper lifting techniques and violence awareness. EMS.gov’s new Resources Hub makes it easy to search for documents, reports, guidelines and policies created by the Office of EMS, our partners and other stakeholders.
