ALABAMA: Beginning today through Sunday is parts of Alabama there is a sales tax free holiday weekend for Severe weather preparedness.
This means you will not have to pay sales tax foe weather related supplies. That means the purchases for weather supplies to be ready for severe weather will be tax exempt.
However the Houston County Commission and Dothan City Commission opted against allowing the citizens to be prepared for severe weather.
Over the last several years across the 587 square miles of Houston County there has been since six people killed in weather related incidents.
Four people were killed in a tornado in Rehobeth. One person was killed in the Hodgesville community from a lightning strike. One person was killed in the southern Houston County area during Hurricane Michael.
You would think that Houston County Commission would be honored to have a tax free preparedness weekend.
I mean look at where they spend money.
