FDOT Traffic Advisory for Bay, Calhoun, Gulf and Jackson Counties

Chipley – Drivers will encounter traffic disruptions on the following state roads in Bay and Gulf Counties as crews perform construction and maintenance activities.

 

Bay County:

·         State Road (S.R.) 388 Widening from S.R. 79 to NW Florida Beaches International Airport-Drivers will encounter a temporary detour on West Bay Parkway entering and exiting the Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport through spring 2020. North and southbound traffic will be restricted to one lane in each direction for approximately 1/2 mile. Traffic on S.R. 388 will not be affected.

·         U.S. 98 at 23rd Street (S.R. 368), 23rd Street Flyover – Traffic has shifted from temporary westbound U.S. 98 to the permanent westbound U.S. 98 from east of Brown Avenue to east of the Hathaway Bridge to allow for permanent eastbound U.S. 98 ramp construction. Permanent westbound U.S. 98 motorists will experience no traffic signals between Michigan Avenue in Panama City and Woodlawn Drive in Panama City Beach.

·         S.R. 75 at Bear Creek Bridge Maintenance – Motorist should expect lane closures from 8 p.m.to 5 a.m., Sunday through Thursday until Tuesday, Dec. 31 for cleaning and repairs.

·         S.R. 79 Pavement Testing – The outside lane of southbound S.R. 79 will be closed from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 11 south of School Drive and north of U.S. 98.

• S.R. 30A (Panama City Beach Parkway) and Griffin Boulevard signal installation – There are no lane closures expected at this time. However, the shoulder will be closed and workers will be present. Please drive carefully and be aware of workers. 

 

Calhoun County:

• S.R. 71 over Cypress Creek Routine Bridge Inspection – There will be intermittent lane closures for routine bridge inspection Monday, Dec. 9 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The inspection will continue until complete. 

 

Gulf County:

• U.S. 98 Hurricane Michael Permanent Repairs from Ninth Street to Fourteenth Street – Drivers can expect intermittent daytime lane closures as crews make permanent repairs to the roadway caused by Hurricane Michael.

·         U.S. 98 Hurricane Michael Permanent Repairs from Franklin County Line to Bay County Line – Washout preventative operations prior to paving the roadway continue. These operations will strengthen the road and prevent storm related damages in the future. Intermittent lane closures may be experienced during this time.

·         U.S. 98 Hurricane Michael Permanent Repairs from Gulf Street to Bay Street – Intermittent daytime lane closures are scheduled Monday through Friday as crews continue permanent hurricane recovery operations on the roadway.

• U.S. 90 Over Apalachicola Relief Routine Bridge Inspection – Intermittent lane closures Eastbound then Westbound beginning Dec.11 at 9 a.m. and will continue until completion.

 

Jackson County:

• S.R. 2 west of Smokey Road Pavement Testing – Temporary closure of westbound S.R. 2 west of Smokey Road from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 10.

All planned construction activities are weather dependent and may be rescheduled in the event of inclement weather. Drivers are reminded to pay attention to the reduced speed limit when traveling through the construction area.
