Help with Funeral and/or Cremation Expense
for COVID-19 Deaths
Beginning Monday, April 12, 2021, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), will begin accepting applications from any family that lost a loved one to the COVID-19 Pandemic, to assist with funding a burial or cremation service*. FEMA will pay up-to $9,000 per funeral, or up-to $35,500 per applicant. Family First Funeral Care will be here to assist you in filing the paperwork and explain what information is needed or required to complete your application.
This paperwork can be a daunting task, especially for those grieving and with not much of an understanding of how to properly complete the paperwork. With that in mind, Family First Funeral Care is offering to assist any and every family, even if the burial or cremation service was not provided by Family First Funeral Care. We will also provide you with a copy of all the signed paperwork, mailing envelope and pre-paid postage.
The following information will be required:
- A certified death certificate that attributes the death directly or indirectly to COVID-19 and shows that the death occurred in the United States, including the U.S. territories, and the District of Columbia.
- A copy of the Statement of Goods and/or Services from the funeral home (the funeral bill).
- Proof of funds received from other sources, specifically for use toward funeral costs. We are not able to duplicate benefits received from burial or funeral insurance, financial assistance received from voluntary agencies, government agencies, or other sources.
Please call Family First Funeral Care at (334) 446-1560 to schedule an appointment, or visit www.familyfirstfuneralcare.com for additional information.
Thank you for allowing Family First Funeral Care to assist you and your family navigate through this difficult time.
