Florida Woman Arrested for DUI Manslaughter

On 09/18/2020, at approximately 6:30 p.m., a 2-vehicle crash occurred on State road 87, south
of the intersection of Vonnie Tolbert Road. A white pickup truck was traveling southbound within the
inside lane of State Road 87. The driver of the pickup truck lost control of her vehicle, crossing the
grass median, and entered the northbound lanes, causing a head-on collision with the white sedan. Both
drivers were transported to Fort Walton Beach Medical Center. The driver of the white sedan was
pronounced deceased.
On 09/24/2020, Lakeisha Yvonne Waiters, the operator of the at fault vehicle in the fatal traffic
crash, was arrested in Pensacola, Florida on a warrant for DUI Manslaughter by the Florida Highway
Patrol. Ms. Waiters was booked into the Escambia County Jail on a $100,000 bond.
