HOUSTON COUNTY:       It only took 25 minutes or less for a jury of peers, 12 peers to be exact, to clear a Youth Minister of criminal charges.

On March 29, 2018 the youth minister of Mt. Gilead Baptist Church, William Wesley Williamson, was arrested on three count of Sex Abuse. More charges were lodged May 9, 2018.

The trial took place in the Houston County Courthouse before 20th Judicial Circuit Court Judge Butch Binford.

The Youth Minister who has devoted his life to ministering to young people, even adopted children who their own parents abandoned them, was represented by lead Counsel Shaun McGhee and co-counsel of Scott Smith and Thomas Smith.

These three men believed in their client and the fact he was NOT GUILTY. And they fought their hearts out for this man.

Shaun McGhee, Scott Smith and Thomas Smith said if William Wesley Williams is guilty or being a Sexual Predator then "GOD help us all".

The jury agreed and all 12 were confident in the sounding decision that rang throughout the Houston County Courthouse today when the four verdicts were read, NOT GUILTY.

The charges made by Houston County Sheriff Department on William Wesley Williamson allege that sometime between August 2017 and November 2017, Williamson "pushing in on victim's private parts in an effort to cause him to sit down".

Other allegations are in January 2018 that Williamson "touched on top of his clothes on his genital area".

During the trial lead counsel Shaun McGhee and Counsel Scott Smith and Thomas Smith brought out in testimony some of these allegations occurred during "WIRED", a youth event, in a gym in front of 200 people, to include youth, counselors, other adults and volunteers.

Other allegations allege the offense occurred in a setting where at least 15 other people were present.

The four charges included three victims.

William Wesley Williamson stated that he never attempted to touch the youth in any inappropriate way. Williamson said he did not know he ever touched the kids in any inappropriate way.

Attorney Shaun McGhee and Co-Counsel Scott Smith and Thomas Smith presented the case in a precise way in order to clear the good name and character of William Wesley Williams. And in 25 minutes or less the jury of 12 peers cleared Williams.
