Heavy rainfall is possible across Southeast Alabama and South Georgia starting Tuesday and continuing through Tuesday night. Rainfall amounts of 2-4 inches with isolated heavier amounts could lead to flash flooding Tuesday and riverine flooding in the days ahead.
A storm system will approach the region tonight, and move through the region on Tuesday. This system will bring moderate to locally heavy rainfall across the region, especially in Southeast Alabama and South Georgia. Because of recent heavy rains in South Georgia, there is the potential for flash flooding and riverine flooding in the days ahead, especially if rainfall amounts exceed 3 to 4 inches. We are continuing to monitor this system closely and may need a flash flood watch for a portion of the region soon.
