GORDON:    Last meeting of the Gordon Town Council the Esteemed Gordon Mayor, Shana Ray, refused to allow the appointed Town Council Member take seat of a Council Person for Gordon.

The Alabama League of Municipalities wrote a letter to the Esteemed Mayor and said, 'oh girl...you better!

Tonight under the watchful eye of Houston County Sheriff Major Bill Rafferty the Esteemed Mayor dropped to Unesteemed and let Council Person the Appointed Council Person, Ms. Vera Smith, take her seat.

Now we are not saying Houston County Sheriff Major Bill Rafferty was at the meeting to make sure Mayor Shana Ray allowed Ms. Smith to take her seat. We can say Major Rafferty was present and does not live even close to Gordon.

Gordon Town Council has two appointed Council Persons, Ms. Vera Smith and Ms. Priscilla Wilson.

Several months ago the Gordon Town Council had to sky rocket the prices of water because the USDA Payments had not been made the the money for those payments has been squandered.

No one has been able to identify where the money went and who was responsible. Reports are the money left those accounts either when Elbert Melton was Mayor and/or when Shana Ray is Mayor, either or. Melton was removed from office when he was convicted of a felony which put Shana Ray as Mayor.

Ms. Vera Smith was a long term Council Person who left office when Melton took over the reigns of Mayor. Ms. Smith said in an interview the money was there and in the bank when she left office. Melton confirmed the money was there when he took office. When Melton was asked what happened to the money he denied any knowledge saying the Council took all money authority away from him.

No one has been able to follow the paperwork and make a determination.

With Council Person Vera Smith back on board the paperwork might be found. Because she served, if memory serves me correct, more than 20 years on the Gordon Town Council. Now she will have access to information she might have been stonewalled on as a citizen.

Will be interesting days ahead.
