REHOBETH - WICKSBURG: The school leadership modified the graduation procedures for 2019 - 2020 graduates. Those gradation ceremonies went off with success.
The school administration, teachers, students and parents have worked long and hard to get you this far. You deserved a ceremony and recognition for your work.
Tonight Wicksburg's Graduation Ceremony had a slight delay. Dothan - Houston County Emergency Management Director Chris Judah has worked hard to develop relationships with the National Weather Service since becoming EMA Director.
During the National Peanut Festival, Director Judah and the National Weather Service have briefings four times per day. Those briefings the management of the National Peanut Festival are included in.
The day before Chris Judah officially took over the reigns as EMA Director the prior Director was AWOL. Four residents were killed in a tornado that night in Rehobeth.
A couple of years ago a young man's life was claimed when lightning struck a tree i his yard and struck him. In fact I was on the scene and assisted Dothan Fire and Cottonwood Rescue load him on the stretcher.
He died.
Tonight the National Weather Service notified Director Judah of lightning strikes and weather dangers. Director Judah communicated that to Houston County School Superintendent David Sewell. Parents, students and families were urged to return to their vehicles for a period of time, then return and the graduation took place.
Director Judah is not a meterologist. He is the EMERGENCY MANAGENT DIRECTOR. So he depends on professionals. And he has worked hard to develop a personal relationship with the professionals at National Weather Service for dependable information.
After the brief delay, everyone returned and a great ceremony.
