HOUSTON COUNTY: During this week all of the 20th Judicial Court Judges were busy with Civil and Criminal Jury trials. A District Court Judge does not hold jury trials. But the Houston County District Court Judges have been busy as well.
This week on floor 3 of the Houston County Courthouse two cases tried before juries were murder cases.
In the the case State of Alabama verses Cedricka Jacole Thornton.
Thornton was charged with Murder in the September 9, 2017 stabbing death of her boyfriend.
Several motions in this case filed by the defense attorney and prosecution prior to trial.
After the presentation of the case the jury of 12 deliberated for about two hours. After deliberation the jury rendered a verdict at about 6 PM this evening. The verdict was GUILTY.
20th Judicial Court Judge Kevin Moulton ordered the Houston County Sheriff Deputies to take the defendant into immediate custody.
Sentencing is scheduled in February.
