Deputy Sheriff Nicholas Dixon was shot and killed following a vehicle and foot pursuit of a stolen motor vehicle. During the foot pursuit Deputy Dixon was struck by gunfire. He was transported to the hospital where he later died. One of the suspects who is believed to be the shooter also was struck by gunfire and his condition is unknown. Deputy Dixon is the 28th law enforcement officer to be shot and killed this year and the fourth officer fatality from the state of Georgia in 2019.
