DOTHAN: It was January 25, 1984 that Bill and Lisa Goree were blessed with the birth of a daughter, Sarah Elizabeth Goree.

Bill and Lisa had one son already, Seth, and now were blessed with a beautiful daughter.

The Goree family, a loving family, lived life together. They all enjoyed each other’s company in doing different activities together. Mother Lisa and Elizabeth enjoyed their shopping time. Dad Bill loved his father - daughter time they spent together.

And big brother Seth and Sarah were not just brother and sister, but friends.

While I never had the opportunity to know Sarah, her parents and brother are some of my best friends. They are one of the greatest family I and know and the definition of “good” people who are genuine and true friends.

Seth married Erin and together they have one son and two daughters.

On May 11, 2001 in a vehicle of which Sarah was a passenger was involved in a car wreck on Westgate Parkway. That accident changed the lives of the Goree family forever when Sarah’s life was claimed.

The Goree’s wanted to do something meaningful to keep the memory of Sarah alive. And the selected a boston butt and rib sale to raise money for the Child Advocacy Center.

Each year people who knew Sarah, and people have come to know Bill, Lisa, Seth and Erin, come together for the fund raiser. This year was the 12th annual boston butt/rib fundraiser. And they sold out way before the deadline. Even some friends take vacation time from work in order to help with the fundraiser.

Yesterday was Sarah’s birthday. While I am one day late I want to wish Sarah a HAPPY HEAVENLY BIRTHDAY.

And if you have never met Bill, Lisa, Seth and Erin, then you have missed the opportunity to meet some of the finest people you will ever run across.
