One subject is in custody following a pursuit that began in Washington County and ended in Holmes County earlier this evening.
Washington County Sheriff’s Office initiated a pursuit westbound on Highway 90 from Chipley, with Bonifay Police Department joining the pursuit in Bonifay and continuing west toward Caryville.
Florida Highway Patrol also assisted.
Deputies with the Holmes County Sheriff’s Office joined the pursuit after an unsuccessful attempt to deploy spike strips in Westville.
The suspect, identified as Trevor Morris, turned north onto Highway 181 toward Prosperity.
Sheriff John Tate set up spike strips just south of Prosperity and was able to successfully spike the vehicle (see attached video).
Deputy Jerry Eldridge was also able to successfully deploy a set of spike strips in front of his residence, which is also in the area.
The pursuit continued approximately another half mile, at which time Morris bailed from the vehicle and fled on foot. Morris was quickly apprehended by a Washington County deputy.
“This was a great job of team work by all the agencies involved to bring a safe and quick resolution to this situation,” said Sheriff Tate.
Morris faces charges in both Holmes and Washington counties.
