CRANE HILL, Ala. (WSFA) - Search and rescue teams are still searching for a missing boater after a July 4 boating crash on Smith Lake, located about 20 miles northwest of Birmingham.
That missing person has since been identified as 26-year-old Kelsey Starling. Former Troy City Clerk Alton Starling confirmed to WSFA 12 News Sunday that the missing victim is his daughter.
Monday morning, Starling wrote to his Facebook page that while at a prayer service Sunday night at First Baptist Church of Troy, he received a call from the recovery effort’s lead investigator informing him that “they have potentially located my daughter.”
Starling said there was a “high degree of certainty since it is around the debris field.”
Our sister station, WBRC Fox 6 News, reports that Kelsey Starling is a teacher in the Birmingham City Schools system.
