Houston County Sheriff Names New Captain

HOUSTON COUNTY:    Houston County Sheriff Donald Valenza has promoted Houston County Sheriff Lieutenant Tony Turner to the rank of CAPTAIN.


Captain Turner assumes the duties of Captain effective to date. Turner will command Patrol Division, Court Security, Civil, FTO ( Field Training Officer’s), K-9, Mental Health, SRT ( Special Response Team ) and Dive Team.


Turner, a graduate of Ashford High School, served as a volunteer with Houston County Rescue Unit and in the rescue dive team. A former United States Marine and joined Houston County Sheriff Department. 


Captain James Ivey will now be the Administrative Division Captain. Ivey will command the Houston County Jail, Dispatch, Sheriff Honor Guard, Sheriff Reserves, and off duty details.
