I-65 NB in Autauga County Reopens Hours After Yesterday's Fatal Crash

AUTAUGA COUNTY, Ala. (WSFA) - Interstate 65 northbound in Autauga County has reopened hours after a fatal crash involving two commercial vehicles Monday afternoon. The crash claimed the life of a Camden, South Carolina, man.


According to ALEA Cpl. Jesse Thornton, Robert Glenn Atherton, 58, was killed when the 2020 International tractor-trailer he was driving collided with a 2006 Peterbilt tractor-trailer that had crossed the median from the southbound lanes. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Peterbult was taken to a hospital with injuries. The vehicles caught fire in the crash.
