In Honor and Remembrance of Retired Canine Zipo

The Dothan Police Department’s Canine Unit remembers retired K9 Zipo who died peacefully today as a result of advanced age at his forever home where he lived with his handler during the working years, then through his remaining retirement years.  Canine Zipo began his career with Dothan Police Department in 2009 and retired in 2016 serving with diligence day in and out. People often ask what happens when a canine retires and the answer can be seen here, they are adopted by a current or past member of our canine unit who allow them to enjoy endless love, family and the perks of retirement for their remaining days! Zipo enjoyed seven years of that in return for the seven working years he gave our department and community. He will be fondly remembered.
