Is It A Happy Memorial Day -

MEMORIAL DAY:     In recent weeks a Pastor in Louisianna ( if memory serves me correct ) was facing legal trouble for having church against the orders of the Governor of the State of Louisianna.

Another State, a Judge who received his paycheck, health insurance, retirement contributions, during the orders of the Governor of that state hair stylist could not work, placed the lady in jail and a fine of $ 7,000.00 for working. The lady said she had to feed her family. The Judge said she was violating the orders of the Governor of that state.

The Judge was able to feed his family because regardless he got his paycheck ever two weeks and it did not matter to him if this hair stylist worked or her kids were able to eat. Thankfully the Attorney General stepped in on her fine and jail time.

The United States of America were order by the President of the United States and the Governor's of the State in America to stop working and stay at home. People were not allowed to gather in groups greater then 10, and people were not allowed to attend church.

Food establishments could only serve to go meals. Even the Waffle House was not allowed to let people come inside and eat.

FREEDOMS that we have all enjoyed, we could not enjoy. We could not go to Ray's Restaurant, Hunt's or other places and dine inside. The gyms were closed.

Even in Dothan and Houston County, the law enforcement had to make some businesses close which remained open. No haircuts.

In some parts of the world this is the norm. But these freedoms to work, do business, shop, attend worship, in the United States of America, in Dothan and Houston County we have always been allowed to do this.

Today is MEMORIAL DAY. We see signs which read HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY.

Memorial Day is not set aside as a day of enjoyment. There are many people who have lost son's, daughter's, mother's and father's in fighting for the freedoms described in the first part of this article that we have not been able to enjoy the last number of weeks.

This is due to the COVID-19 virus. But it could be government required if it were not for those who have taken bullets and we wounded, some died, families mourn the death of their loved one who gave their life for freedom.

When I interviewed Hunter Anderson concerning his being shot on the battle field. A honor student from Dothan Alabama, shot on the battle field for us to have freedom.

When I reflect on Justin Barfield who gave the ultimate sacrifice, his life, so you and I can have freedom.

Memorial day is not a HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY for these families. A lot of those who have fought have emotional problems on what they went through for us.

THANK YOU to those living who fought for our freedom. THANK YOU to those who received injuries while fighting for our freedom.

THANK YOU to those who their life was given for us to have freedom. And PRAYERS AND PEACE to the families left behind because your loved one made the ultimate sacrifice.

Yes, it was a HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY to many. But only because of those who have fought for our freedom. 

COVID-19 has made me realize how those freedoms can be taken away.
