HOUSTON COUNTY:    If you are an Auburn fan you know the chant... it's great to be an Auburn tiger, it's great to be an Auburn tiger...  


Well it is great to be a part of the emergency network across the 582 square miles of Houston County. Yes, there are obstacles and things that need to be updated.


But late Wednesday afternoon and Wednesday evening were prime examples of the emergency network we have throughout this 582 square miles of Houston County.


Because of HIPA there are certain things that can not be said. Therefore all of the circumstances can not be expressed in this article or public anywhere anytime.


But the call came out and multiple volunteer fire and EMS and paid fire and EMS responded to the call. Three Houston County Sheriff Deputies responded to the call. Everyone worked as a team in the two calls for the common goal of the patient.


Sad, the second call, the patient did not survive and passed away from natural causes. But the team that responded did so out of passion of service to others more than self.


Cottonwood EMS, Cottonwood Fire, Hodgesville Fire, Rehobeth EMS and Rehobeth Fire, Dothan Fire, Southern Junction Fire ( think I have covered them all ) all responded.


So like the Auburn chant...it's great to be a part of the 582 square miles of Houston County emergency network...it's great to be a part of the 582 square miles of Houston County emergency network...



And let me say, all Dothan Fire Department engine companies and Fire Chief Larry Williams are always eager to help. Not trying to single one above the other, perhaps because I have worked closer with him, but Dothan Fire Captain Jesse Taylor and the Engine 4 crew at Southside Fire Station, are out of this world to work with.


Also thanks for the work that Dothan-Houston County Emergency Management Director Chris Judah has done in working to make a team approach. I personally know a lot of the obstacles that are encountered, but thanks for helping make us #houstoncountystrong.
