It Takes A Village To Raise A Child…A Village With Awesome Mothers

God blessed me by having THE VERY BEST MOM..( we all have the “ very best mom” ) but as I sit here thinking about Mother’s Day I can’t help but think about the other wonderful mothers who played an important role in my childhood years.

There’s a saying….
“ It Takes A Village To Raise A Child “
and that is so true.

A lot of mothers in my neighborhood growing up and a very special 1st grade teacher were a part of the village that helped to raise me.

First and Foremost….
My first grade teacher at Selma Street School…Mrs. Marjorie Martin. I loved Mrs. Martin and I will always love her. She was the best 1st grade teacher I could have ever asked for.

Mrs. Janice Bounds lived directly across the street from my family on Cynthia Drive.
Anytime my mother needed her Mrs. Bounds was always right there up until my mother’s last days here on this Earth. She was a best friend to my Mom and played a big role in my young childhood years.

Mrs. Barbara Ward also lived in my neighborhood growing up. She was the FUN MOM LOL
Especially during the summers of my elementary school years.
She always had the neighborhood kids at her house to “bob for apples” or eat hotdogs for lunch. (Tim Ward claims I ate 12 one day) Mrs. Ward always had something fun for us to do when we were out of school. I wish I could tell her just how much those days at her house meant to me.

Mrs. Rose Perry, who also lived on Tate Drive a few houses up from Mrs. Ward’s house, played a very important role in my childhood years. I think I invited myself to a lot of breakfasts at her table or maybe Greg invited me lol But as a child I remember Mrs. Perry as always being so kind. Always very soft spoken. She always made me feel welcome in her home.

Mrs. Runell Clark’s son Ken was my best friend in elementary school and is still one of my dearest and closest friends today. I spent many days at their home on South Park growing up. She was also always there when my Mom needed her. Always so kind and I always loved to laugh with her. I’ll always remember when Mrs. Clark had a lot of our Senior Of ‘76 classmates over for an outdoor cookout at her home. She was like a mom to many of her children’s friends.

Happy Mother’s Day To These Wonderful Mother’s Who Played A Important Role In The Village Where I Was Raised

And To All The Wonderful Mothers In The Wiregrass Community
