Jackson County Charged Man with Grand Theft of a Motor Vehicle

On 7-21-20 at approximately 11:16 a.m. The Florida Highway Patrol, the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, and the State Fire Marshal’s Office began an investigation into a vehicle crash and fire on Hudson Rd., south of Alford.


Upon arrival of Law Enforcement they found the vehicle to be destroyed by fire. They also learned that the vehicle had been stolen from Holmes County. Several subjects at the scene witnessed Albert Newton “Alpo” Brincefield flee from the scene on foot. Troopers determined that the vehicle had been intentionally crashed and The State Fire Marshal Investigator determined that the fire was intentionally set.


During the course of the investigation the State Trooper learned that one of the witnesses made contact with Brincefield following the crash and overheard him say that he stole the car, crashed it and set fire to it because he was angry that the driver who had cut his mother off in traffic earlier. Other independent witnesses confirmed Brincefield saying the same thing to them.


A warrant was obtained on 7-29-20 for Brincefield. On 8-10-20 just before midnight the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call of several subjects brandishing firearms at a local motel. When Deputies arrived Brincefield was found to be one of the individuals.


He was taken into custody initially on the warrant for Grand Theft of a Motor Vehicle, Arson, Felony Driving While License Suspended, and Tampering with Evidence. Brincefield was also charged with Possession of Methamphetamines with Intent to Sell, Possession of Schedule lV Narcotic, and Possession of Prescription Medication without a Prescription. Also located at the scene was Erik Deming who was found to be in possession of methamphetamines for which he was charged. Both individuals were lodged in the Jackson County Correctional Facility to await first appearance.
