On July 27, 2021, at 5:16 p.m. (CST), the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) responded to a call in reference to a stolen vehicle in the area of Silver Lake.
The subject, later identified as William Grimsley, abandoned the vehicle he was driving and fled on foot. The JCSO K-9 Tracking Unit was requested and deployed.
The K-9 Tracking Unit immediately established a track starting at the abandoned vehicle, which continued for approximately four miles making several direction changes.
A resident stated that an individual matching the description of the subject was seen walking into a grassy area in the lake. Grimsley was located attempting to conceal himself under a dock and was taken into custody without incident.
Grimsley is involved in ongoing investigations in multiple counties.
Sheriff Edenfield would like to thank members of the JCSO for their dedication to public safety and for the community for their willingness to notify law enforcement when they encounter suspicious activity.
Partnerships between residents of the community and the JCSO are vital to improving public safety in our County.
