COFFEE COUNTY:   RSN has learned that the Alabama Judicial Inquiry Commission has conducted an investigation into the activities of Coffee County District Court Judge Christopher Kaminski.

The Alabama Judicial Inquiry Commission will neither confirm nor deny if any official complaint or investigation has been filed or going on in their office.

The Judicial Inquiry Commission has given Judge Kaminski until sometime this week to decide if he will resign or not. As I have learned if Judge Kaminsli refuses to resign then formal charges will be filed and an official hearing will be held by the Judicial Inquiry Commission. At the time official charges are filed then the allegations will be made public by the Judicial Inquiry Commission.

Kaminski is a 2002 graduate of Enterprise High School. He attended law school in Montgomery. He passed the Alabama State Bar in 2009. Following passing the bar Kaminski worked with the District Attorney Office for Coffee and Pike County.

Former Alabama Governor Robert Bentley appointed Christopher Mark Kaminski as Coffee County District Court Judge. The appointment was to fill the unexpired term of Judge Paul Sherling who resigned to take over the family business.

The term Kaminski held ended in 2017. Kaminski was elected by the qualified voters of Coffee County in 2017 for a six year term as District Court Judge.

On December 21, 2017 Christopher Kaminski filed for a divorce in Coffee County Circuit Court. All sitting Judges recused themselves and the Chief Justice of the Alabama Supreme Court appointed 20th Judicial Circuit Court Judge Butch Binford to preside over the divorce.

On February 26, 2018, without court proceedings, the divorce was settled.

The Judicial Inquiry Commission Investigation comes as a result of a complaint filed by an Attorney which practices primarily in Coffee County. The allegations are the Judge Kaminski was having an extra marital affair with a female attorney in Coffee County. The allegations are the female attorney received favored treatment in judicial orders from Judge Kaminski.

The Judicial Inquiry Commission is reported to have conducted an investigation and met with Judge Kaminski. The Judge has retained legal counsel. I think who was initially hired withdrew and Kaminski retained other legal counsel.

As I understand there are two options available: (1) resign or (2) formal charges.

We will see as the train moves forward. If I am wrong then I invite the Alabama Judicial Inquiry Commission to say I have no clue what I am talking about. Until then...
