Juveniles Fled Traffic Accident on Foot, Located Soon After

JACKSON COUNTY, FL - On Tuesday, January 25, 2022, the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) responded to a call in reference to a traffic accident at the intersection of Highway 231 and Highway 273.
Upon arrival, a witness told deputies that the subject from the vehicle that caused the accident fled on foot. During the course of the investigation, it was determined that the vehicle involved in the accident was reported to have two missing/runaway juveniles from Tennessee.
The JCSO K-9 Tracking Unit was activated and deployed. After approximately two miles, the K-9 team located the juveniles in a nearby field.
The Florida Highway Patrol is currently investigating the traffic accident.
Sheriff Edenfield is grateful for the citizen who reported the accident as well as notified law enforcement of the juveniles fleeing the scene on foot. He would also like to thank the Florida Highway Patrol as well as the JCSO Uniform Patrol Division and the K-9 Tracking Unit for their quick apprehension of the juveniles.
