K-9 HIGHWAY MAKES POSITIVE DRUG ALERT

HOLMES COUNTY: July 27, 2022 - An HCSO deputy conducted a traffic stop on Hwy 90 near Morrow Rd. in Ponce de Leon and made contact with the driver, identified as David Roberts of Ponce de Leon.

While speaking to Roberts, the deputy deployed K-9 Highway to conduct a free air sniff of the vehicle, which resulted in a positive alert for the presence of illegal narcotics. Roberts told the deputy he had prescription marijuana in his shirt pocket that did not belong to him.

A probable cause search of the vehicle also revealed a hydrocodone pill and methamphetamine wrapped in cellophane in the driver’s side door panel.

David Roberts was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance for the methamphetamine, and possession of a controlled substance without a prescription (including marijuana) for the marijuana and hydrocodone.
